This article describes trends for Pulse surveys. For Periodic surveys, see Understand your periodic survey results
In the temperature segment, you will notice a small arrow pointing up/down in the top-right corner.
This is called a trend, and we value it highly because it indicates where the company is heading in the specific category. The system compares the last 30 days of answers with the current period settings, but the results can vary depending on the number of months selected for temperature presentation.
Example:
Let's say today is the 30th of April, and you're currently displaying the last three months of data (as displayed below).
The current temperature includes data from the last 90 days, from the 1st of February through the 30th of April.
The trend will "displace" this same selection 30 days - compared against the data as it would have been displayed 30 days ago with your current selections,( data of 90 days, from the 1st of January through 31 March) and show you the difference between the two as a percentage.
Example:
Let's say today is the 30th of April, and your current settings show the last 3 months of data (as shown below).
The trend will show the last 30 days compared to the temperature from 1 January to 31 March. If you change the timeline to 1 month, the trend would compare the last 30 days with March.
If you'd like to change the number of visible months, you can do so in the settings:
