Understanding Check-in languages

Using your native language leads to more honest, reliable feedback. This article explains how language works for check-in employees, and how you can help them get it right.

Set the welcome language

The link you share decides which language employees see on the check-in page. If no language is included in the URL, they'll see your company's default language.

Here's how it works:

  1. Follow What is Check-in? to create a URL.
  2. Open the URL you created in a browser. The browser automatically adds the company language to the URL, as shown below.
  3. You can now use this URL in the kiosk or when generating a QR code.

If you want to use different languages for different teams or countries, change the language using the language selector on the sign in page, then copy that URL. Repeat for each language you need.

Don't worry, employees are never stuck with the wrong language. If they want to switch, they can do it easily using the language selector. If they choose a different language from the one they had saved, they'll be asked whether they want to use it for all upcoming surveys, or just this time.

The language priority order

Once you sign in, Check-in works out which language to show using three factors, in this order.

  1. The user's saved language, if they have one.
  2. Their team's language, if they have one.
  3. Your company's default language, if neither of the above is set.

From the survey page

Employees can also change the language using the language selector in the top right corner when answering the survey. If they switch to a new language, they'll see a prompt asking whether they want to use it for all upcoming surveys, or just this time.
