Mailing response, response participation and average response. What's the difference?

Here's a cheat sheet to make differentiating between different response terms used in Winningtemp easier.  

Response participation

The response participation on the Team temperature page displays the percentage of the recipients who answered at least one survey in the current period (the standard is three months). This means that if a user answered one survey out of five possible surveys in the period, the team would have 100% participation.

In other words, the number displays how many of your users are active in answering any survey during the current period, not per survey.

Mailing responses

The mailing response on the sent tab in Survey shows exactly how many per cent of the recipients answered a specific mailing.

In the picture below, 61% of the recipients answered the survey sent out on 2021-12-01.
77% of the users answered the mailing sent out the week before.

Average response (custom surveys)

In the overview of your custom surveys, you can see the average response rate for a specific survey. A survey sent with an interval can have different recipients per mailing, e.g. if new people have joined the organisation. The average response rate depends on how many users receive each mailing.
 
Let’s look at a scenario:
The first mailing is sent out with:
  • 20 recipients
  • 20 answers
  • = response rate of 100%
The second mailing is sent out with:
  • 30 recipients (the original 20 included)
  • 21 answers
  • = response rate of 70%
To calculate the average response, we add the response rates per survey together (100+70) and divide it by the number of surveys (2). In this scenario, the average response rate is 85%.

Response rate

In the Statistics view, users with correct access can use filters to see detailed data, such as the average per month and team or see the results presented as a list. 

 

Good to know

You can never see who has or hasn't responded to a survey but rather statistics about the team itself.
