Pulse + focus: a complete listening system

But what if you need to go deeper – when it’s not just about checking in, but zooming in? That’s why we created Focus Surveys.
Pulse Surveys help you spot broad trends and early signals across the organisation, while Focus Surveys let you dig into specific moments, roles, or topics.
This means that Focus Surveys complement Pulse Surveys well, and vice versa. Without Pulse Surveys, you miss out on real-time data, trend monitoring, and early warning signs. And without that broad perspective, it becomes harder to know which topics deserve a deep dive.
What makes Focus Surveys different?
With Focus Surveys you get more options and you can set the question order, choose from a mix of flexible question types, and even add different sections to target multiple topics or events — all in the same survey!
They’re perfect for project wrap-ups and retrospectives, organisational changes or restructures, and exploring topics flagged in Pulse results.
Get started!
- Go to Employee surveys and click Surveys.
- Click Create survey and select Focus survey.
- The setup wizard will guide you through each step. Here’s what you’ll do:
- General: Name your survey, select a send-out date, and determine who should view the results.
- Questions: Select the question type and sections, add your questions, and arrange them in order. Each section will be displayed on a separate page in the survey.
- Recipients: Choose who should receive the survey: teams, segments, or the whole organisation.
- Translation: Translate your questions using AI or manually (optional). Read more - AI-powered features in Winningtemp.
- Summary: Review your setup, save as a draft, and send a test mailing if needed.
Survey recipients
Focus surveys are sent to members of a team. Managers who are not members of the team will not receive the survey.
🔒 Access control
Do you want your managers to be able to create Focus surveys themselves? Head to Administration -> System & Templates to activate it.
Checking the results! 🎉
- Go to Results & analysis and click Survey results
- Click on your Focus survey in the list, or use the search bar to find it
- Here you’ll find helpful info like survey type, response rate, and status
- Click on the survey you want to view
Once you’ve opened the survey, you can:
- View the results question by question – responses are grouped based on the section layout you chose when setting up the survey
- Filter the results by team or segment
- Check out the stats to see how many recipients have answered the survey and what the response rate is
- Read comments and start anonymous follow-up conversations right from a comment.
- Download a snapshot of the results chart as a .png image.

Head over to the Mailing page to view the send-out date under the Sent and Upcoming tabs.
