A survey score shows you that something has changed, but not why, or what to do about it. That's where the deep dive family comes in. Three tools, each a different way to dig deeper, all designed to help you turn data into action. Say hello to the deep dive family:
- Focus Surveys shows you what's shaping the score, using a structured survey
- AI Conversations shows you what's behind it, using AI chat & AI Synthesis report
- Temperature Meetings help you act on it together, in a meeting format
Each tool gathers more data on a result in its own way. Use each individually, or combine them.
Three tools working side by side
| Focus Surveys | AI Conversation | Temperature meetings | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What is answers | What's shaping the score? | Why is it happening? | What can we do about it? |
| What it is | A structured survey that breaks a category into its sub-dimensions | An anonymous, AI-guided chat where each person explores the why in their own words | A live team session that turns insight into action |
| What you get | Measurable breakdown of what dropped | A synthesis of themes and recommended actions | Commitments the team owns together |
| Format | Structured form | Chat | Digital or physical meeting |
| Time | ~10 min per person | ~10 min per person, async over 3–7 days | ~20-45 min |
| Anonymity | Anonymous | Anonymous | Open team discussion |
| Best for | Pinpointing which aspect shifted, or tracking a topic over time | Understanding the human reasons behind a score | Aligning the team on what to do next |
How to choose the right tool
Which tool to use depends on what your team needs. The tools are independent, so you can use any one on its own, but they also complement each other. Together, they take you from a number on a dashboard to a team that knows what to do next.
- If you want to measure a specific topic and get consistent data over time, start with a Focus Survey.
- If a temperature score has dropped and you want to understand why, start with an AI Conversation.
- When you know the what, the why, and the team is ready to act, run a Temperature meeting.
The Deep Dive family and anonymity
Anonymity is built into the design, not bolted on. With Focus Surveys and AI Conversations, you'll never see who said what. AI Conversations also require at least five respondents before a summary is generated, and individual transcripts are never shared. That means people can be honest without worrying about being identified. Read more: AI Conversation: Manager guide.
Temperature meetings work differently. They are open team conversations, designed to create the kind of psychological safety where people feel comfortable speaking up together.
